Back to 2011 I and my best friend had a mini vacation to Mekong Delta, Vietnam. It had been long time to write this article, but just want to remind the flashback memories on the amazing Delta tour along Mekong river.
Mekong Delta is located on southern Vietnam where is home to floating market villages surrounded by rice paddies, boats are the main transportation there. We got the boat tour from HCM, cost about 15USD, it was much appreciated for us, affordable price. The tour also including lunch with tour guide was not bad, the guide told us about rich stories of Mekong Delta the region of agricultural trade on boat.
Mekong delta give the very green scenery, ethnic foods, local winery and it is special for cobra wine and coconut candy. The local people are living along the Mekong delta are friendly with pure smile on face, they do their business selling souvenirs, foods, winery to the tourist, along the way we tried the local foods and everything for free, of course if you would like to buy their stuff is much better.
On trip, we met mixed of tourist from the difference countries, we enjoyed talking on boat, and no worry the tour guide speaks well English. Mekong delta is also the flourish village, villagers love growing flower, tropical fruits and more coconut tree, the tourist happily with photos capturing, at lunch time they had Vietnamese-traditional dancing show, we did not understand what they were singing but we enjoyed their music. If you have enough time four days is best to do Mekong delta tour, but we had only a day tour, 6am is the best time seeing a hundred vendors doing the business in the river.
You can start the Mekong delta with The Sinh Tourist, they have such as the best services for inbound tour since 1993. I would like to recommended testing their coconut candy, the taste was reminded my childhood, but if you are growing in west maybe you never have its taste, do try it.
