Phnom Tamao wildlife rescue center is located about 45km from the city center, south of Phnom Penh, in Ba Ti district, Takeo province. You can accessible by national road No.2. Phnom Tamao is the largest animal park in Cambodia, where 1200 animals with 2300 hectares is home there, rich of featuring temples, mountains and forests.
It has over 200,000 people has visited every year, also attracted both local and tourist. We can spend a day tour with friend or family, along the way to Phnom Tamao we also can drop by to have a river-lobster for lunch. I have been visiting there for twice, with my family because of my dad he like the place, I saw him was enjoying with every cage of animal rescue. The place is huge you have to walk around like hours to see all the area, we bought banana and some fruits for those animal, watch out never standing too close to them, in case of accident, visiting with your own risk.
We had photos outside of their cages and feeding them, don’t feed something poison or harm them, they need help not hurt. I drive to Phnom Tamao with my own vehicle, if you don’t have one just rent out Tuk Tuk or can access by taxi that will across to Takeo province.
The road condition was not good at the time under construction situation when we first visiting, hope the construction will finish in soon. I and my mom got loss there later we asked vendors to get back to the parking. Phnom Tamao is the precious gift where is home to those animals and also give a lot of business selling foods, fruits and souvenir to visitors. The government and non-government hand to hand trying to rescue them.
Phnom Tamao is valued to everyone especially kids, they love animal, they can play on the ground and experience with the nature.
