Kratie-ក្រចេះ

This is the first time of my trip visiting a part of Cambodia. I have been traveling around ASEAN, but when people asking me about Cambodia, [Have you been traveled around?] I replied NO with ashamed. It’s so embarrassed about me, which have no idea with my own country. So I decided to pack and go on adventure to see how amazing of Cambodia.  First stop, I went to Kratie [Kro Ches] province where the dolphins boating view from Mekong River, it took me 7 hours on bus, the bus keep stopping people on off , if you don’t want to stuck on 7 hours on bus , catch the minivan or taxi is faster than shitty bus. It came right when I go wrong, so minivan only take 3 hours cost 5usd. Arrived to Kratie was already evening I just rented the motorbike from the guesthouse and drove to Dolphins view side.

It is the good time to see Dolphins at 5pm when the sun starts to go down, you will enjoy the views while waiting for dolphins to show up from water, they moved damn quick I could not capture a pic of them, damn shit. But I did enjoy seeing in eyes while they were playing water, it is still worth. I drove back to Kratie town road is extremely bumpy, dusty; the road is on construction yet. I missed the best time to see sunset in Kratie, I supposed to wait and see the sunset but I was worry the way back to town would be darkness, and i am damn worst with driving at night time.

My friend Bernard he hosted me in Kratie for a night staying with his family, I was so welcomed there with awesome food and beer, we were on some topics to go, laugh, fun night and end up with drunk MJ as always. I woke up very early; I booked minivan to [Mondulkiri] with price 7usd, while waiting for driver to pick me up, I held a cup of coffee, and sipped it slow talking with Bernard sister-in law, I would love to hear people stories, it was the best moments we shared life experiences, bitter sweet and we still here to stand up for our life.

Mondolkiri-មណ្ឌលគិរី

3 hours from Kratie to Mondulkiri on minivan with some foreigners, I have made friends with one couple they came from Italy.

[Senmanorom ] is the town of Mondulkiri, it is pretty small town with not much population. First night I stayed in [Chanta Sreypich] guesthouse where I booked from booking.com was located in downtown, affordable, good services, motor rental, restaurant, beer, coffee, tour arrangement just all in one window.

I went there in March it was super-hot, I was born and raised in Cambodia, what I have known Cambodia has two seasons, hot and bloody hot season. In day time I just run into my room to safe from sun burn. About 5pm I walked to the close one waterfall named [Senmanorom fall] it is 5km up to the hill, one hour walking to the fall, in the mid-way I met one white girl that was good to have someone walk with me, we chatted along the way. Eventually, we reached to the fall, coz it is the dry season so not much water, no green leaf to see, all yellow and red cover all the trees. Just took some photos then we headed back to town.

Next day in the morning I rented the motorbike and started the journey to the big waterfall [Busra Fall] is hidden the thick forest about 37Km from Senmanorom, driving in 5Km you can see at the left side there is coffee plantation, they grow many fruits and plants such: Avocado, Dragon fruit, Tea, Coffee, Strawberry, Mango, pepper and so on…… almost get to Busra fall you will see at the right side is native villages, the way they build their home is difference one, my butt was painful from the long driving. Busra is the most attractive spot in Mondulkiri, spent sometimes and captured photos. I have seen some kids, they were dressing up like the native villagers, Wow………. they looked fantastic with the dresses, I would try it too haha………. as a big native MJ Vs little natives. It was so much fun. Left the Busra we sneaked to the forest sea, there are tons of trees.

Second night, I was recommend to stay in [Mayura Hill Resort] is the heaven hiding in the forest about 1Km from town, the resort is providing swimming pool, playground, awesome terrace, western and Khmer dishes. It is really appropriate place for family, vacation, retreat and some mediators very peaceful. I stayed in twin villa just to open the door is big swimming pool view from my room. I sat at the balcony and sipping my coffee looks around it’s all the green trees, other people having their breakfast and chit chat with their friends, families. [Mayura] is the mindfulness place to escape from busy town, crazy traffic and drama, is where you can see the pure smile, and they take care of you from their heart.

Ratanakiri-រតនះគិរី

The last stop of my trip is Ratanakiri known as the farthest province in Cambodia. It is 3 hours from Mondulkiri. I was checked in at the Tree-Top hostel with nice decoration I love it so far. The town not quite big that I could discover with motorbike to the first sightseeing [Kachanh fall &Ka Tieng fall] is about 5Km, it is so easy if you know how to use map.me [off line map] just keep straight you will see these both wonderful fall.

There is Swing Bridge in [Kachanh fall] looks so stunning bridge. Take a break having some cold drinks to save me from the extremely hot weather. I came straight to [Beoung Yak Lom or Yak Lom lake] is the most popular spot in town; it would be more beautiful if we could see it from the drone. The lake is surrounding by thick forest, as I heard from the local this lake is came from the volcano explored, the water looks deep and very clear, I really want to jump in but I am not the good swimmer.

The mission is completed. A long the way I have met new people and made friends, experienced local life, their living, learnt something new and understand everything happens for a reason. Traveling is the investment makes you richer.

Tip: From Phnom Penh to Kratie-Mondukiri-Rantankiri-Steng Treng are connecting places.
