The more I am getting old the more I feel that I do not really like a birthday wish or a present. I have put off the birthday alarm on Facebook and other social medias. I just want to spend time with myself, off to somewhere that is no one can recognize me as MJ, and explore the part of the world with my own, and enjoy with strangers.

How to get Phu Quoc island from Cambodia

On Friday evening, I left work and catch the bus from Phnom Penh to Kampong Trach where is the border of Cambodia-Vietnam, and then I needed to take a ferry about 2 hours to reach the Phu Quoc Island, the ferry cost 230,000dong for one way. Ha Tien is an international border but seems like no one crossed by only few people. About 30km from pier to get Phu Quoc downtown cost 50,000dong by bus and if you choose taxi would be 200,000dong.

I was hosted by one Vietnamese-Chinese guy he is half blood and raise in Germany. I stayed in his mini hostel was so cozy, cleanness and have nice decoration on the wall with slightly pink and white colors. The hostel services did not only offer stay but also rooftop, flick and mini café bar. The hostel named as [House No-1] located 12 Le Loi Bach Dang, Phu Quoc. I was invited to join the BBQ dinner by my host on the first day arriving to the island. I have spent a great time with the awesome people and we were enjoying on talking and sharing culture, living style and traveling so on. We did make a fun night and finally we ended up with pool table till late night.

Some of the attractive places was pretty far from downtown, about 30km to Bai Sao beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Phu Quoc. I supposed to buy a tour with other people to explore but unfortunately it was cancelled because of the horrible weather. They suggested me to rent a motorbike but I did not have the international driving license so I was not able to make it. Finally, I decided to cycling around to see [Long Beach]

that was recommended by local anyway is the closure one from town. Strong wind and big wave that would be dangerous for swimming, so lay down on the couch and chill out was safer, enjoy the local Vietnamese food I love people here they are so nice and always give me a beautiful smile face.

I woke up early morning then jogging near by the fishing harbor, that was amazing morning with fresh air, seeing people doing with their fishing boat. I was dinning at Q SKY BAR was the greatest place to see sunset, the sun was slowly going down the sky started to change the colors, and it was the perfect moment!

Next day, I rented a motorbike to tour the island, yep here I did not have driving license but I tried to make it happen, if the police caught me I have to pay them or they jailed me or they free me I deal it. I had one tour guide with was Max, we took around the island and was straight to Bai Sao beach It looks like the new version of my hometown [Sihanoukville], white beach and clear water, seeing coconut trees bend their bodies down to the sea, not too crowd and sound relaxing, it was great time to read book.

Left Bai Sao beach to see the temple on the hill, the guide man told me more about the history of the temple, believe me he was the best guide ever you will never have a dull moment. There are many restaurants, hostels and bars in the island but my favorite one was Q HAO it is all in one: including hostel, Q Fusion restaurant and Q SKY BAR also providing karaoke room.

The last day I love spending time to walk around and sampling the ethnic foods, I went to museum of Phu Quoc cost 20,000VND for entrance fee, there were so many pictures describing about what was happening and how it started of the Phu Quoc Island. People here in Phu Quoc still have limited of speaking English, a little could understand English and the rest no, the body languages could save me sometime and sometime it kills me.
